As a UX product designer with backgrounds in Human-Computer Interaction and analytics, I’ve been fortunate to wear many different hats in solving problems. Some projects I am most proud of are leading analysis of Box’s App Center to enable productivity for businesses and professionals; and conceiving the future of reforestation at Morphing Matter Lab. I found myself deeply curious about imagining - and making possible - better ways of living, being with intentional design.
From Chongqing to Pittsburgh
In terms of my personal journey, I was born and raised in Chongqing, China, a city that underwent drastic changes in the past decades. Seeing three generations of my family start from facing extreme hungerin time of famine in rural China of 1950s, to navigating the challenges of solo parenting both culturally and financially in the 70s, and to me having the opportunity for higher education at CMU and the luxury to shape my career, I am always grateful and motivated to design meaningful tech that does good to society and elevate people's experiences.
Read, read, read
Outside of work, taking time to read always makes my day. My favorite non-fiction and fiction have been the World of Yesterday and One Hundred Years of Solitude. I’m recently reading Caste, The Roots of Romanticism, and Homo Deus. I also fell in love with taking photos when I was younger, which might have affected me to have a good eye on details:) Recently, I picked up snowboarding in the freezing winters of Pittsburgh, and you'll likely to find me stumbling through the green runs.
As I continue with my career, I am always looking to connect with people who share the same old ideal of making the world better. I believe that we can do it together by shipping designs that are more inclusive and longer-lasting.
